Samsung devices are sold in many markets around the world, each with its own specific carrier and regulations. To make sure that each device is compliant with the laws and regulations of its home market, the OEM assigns a different CSC code or firmware region code to each region or country. CSC stands for Country Specific Code and it contains all the tweaks and modifications that Samsung makes to its phone for each specific region. These modifications can range from changes in the user interface to pre-installed apps, network configuration, and features. Below, you’ll find the complete list of Samsung CSC codes.
What’s Samsung CSC Code?
You can think of a CSC code as a sort of fingerprint for a particular market or region. It is a set of 3 alphabetical or alphanumeric characters. When you buy a Samsung device from another country, the CSC code will be different from the one on your home market device. This is because Samsung has made specific changes to the software for that market. The acronym CSC stands for Country Specific Code but you might find various explanations of the term on the internet.
- Country Sales Code
- Country Specific Code
- Country Software Customization
- Consumer Software Customization
Whatever the meaning of Samsung CSC may be, it is used to identify the regional variants of certain Samsung devices. These codes are used to determine which firmware version and carrier-specific features are available on a particular device. To make sure that each device is compliant with the laws and regulations of its home market, Samsung assigns a different CSC code to each region. Samsung firmware has 4 binaries namely BL, AP, CP, and CSC. There are 2 CSC files and you need to flash either the CSC or Home CSC in Samsung Odin.
There are four main types of CSC codes:
- Open CSC: This is the standard code used on most international versions of Samsung devices. It includes all firmware and carrier-specific features regardless of region.
- Carrier CSC: This code is specific to a particular carrier or network operator. It includes carrier-specific features such as branding, apps, and networks.
- Country CSC: This code is specific to a particular country or region. It includes country-specific features such as language support and regional settings.
- OEM CSC: This code is specific to a particular manufacturer or distributor. It includes OEM-specific features such as boot animations and wallpapers.
CSC is an essential component of the Samsung firmware. It determines several aspects of your Samsung Galaxy Smartphone or Galaxy Tab. Since the CSC codes are country-specific, they are responsible for the availability or absence of certain apps and features such as language packs, native call recording, APN settings, network modes, calendar settings, clock formats, etc. Besides, CSC also helps Samsung FUS (firmware update server) to recognize your device and send OTA updates meant for your country or region.
Check the CSC Code of a Samsung Galaxy Phone
There are several ways you can check the CSC code of your Samsung Galaxy device.
1. Using Dialer Codes
- Open the Phone app on your Samsung phone.
- Type *#1234# in the dialer.
- On the screen that appears, you will find the AP, CP, and CSC version of your phone.
- In the CSC version, take a look at the 6th, 7th, and 8th characters. They represent the CSC code of your device. In this case, OXM is the CSC of my Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Besides, there is another secret code that you can use to find out the CSC code of a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet. Type *#12580*369# in the dialer. Don’t forget to check out our list of Samsung secret codes to diagnose device issues, test the hardware modules, and get technical information about your phone.
I have attached an infographic below showing the breakup of the CSC version of a Samsung phone or tablet so that you can have a better sense of it. To know more about Samsung’s coding for year and month, read our detailed article on checking the manufacturing date of a Samsung phone or tablet.
2. From Software Information
There is another way to get detailed information about the CSC and its subsets on your Samsung phone.
- Open device Settings and go to About phone > Software information.
- Look for the Service provider software version.
- The CSC code of your device is mentioned there.
In the above screenshot, you can see that OXM is the primary CSC while INS is the secondary CSC, indicating that the device is meant for India. If your device has a multi-CSC, there are 4 ways to change the CSC of your Samsung phone by following our tutorial.
What’s OXM CSC Code on Samsung?
Samsung uses OXM as a primary CSC. OXM is a multi-CSC code that represents 68 secondary CSC codes. The number of CSCs covered by OXM keeps changing. OXM is a conglomeration or cluster of open CSCs which means that if your phone’s service provider information shows OXM with some other CSC, your phone is not locked to a network provider. However, the features (such as call recording, Samsung Pay, etc.) and network configurations may differ according to the secondary CSC.
Besides OXM, there are a bunch of more multi-CSCs that include ODD, ODM, OJK, OJP, OJV, OJV, OLB, OLB, OLC, OMC, OSW, OXA, OXA, OXE, OXE, OXF, OXI, OXX, OYA, OYV, and OZS, VFG, YXY.
If you want to enable native call recording, caller ID, and Samsung Pay on your Samsung Galaxy phone, you can switch to one of the following CSC codes: BKD, EGY, ILO, INS, LYS, NPL, SEK, SLK, THL, and TUN. Below is a complete list of 68 CSCs that come under OXM along with the name of the country, and region they belong to.

Hi Abrar,
I don’t think it’s possible.
So if my S23 ultra is currently OXM I can just flash INS firmware to obtain call recording?
Yes. Either flash the INS firmware or use SamFW.
I have ‘OYV’ CSC , so what shall i do to enable call recording and activate 5G bands for JIo
Try SamFW.
