Cupertino giant Apple introduced an all-new MacBook Air 2018 at the October Apple event in New York yesterday. Technical Specifications
Screen and HD Facetime camera
The all-new Apple MacBook Air 2018 features a new 13.3” Retina Display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and also employs 50% narrower bezels than the outgoing model which helps it stretch almost to the edges. The display technology employed here is of the IPS LCD variety. The display is capable of showing 48% more color than the display on the previous MacBook Air. A Facetime HD camera is located at the top of the display as usual for video and conference calls.

The all-new MacBook Air features an 8th gen Intel Core-i5 processor. The base model that costs $1,199 comes equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, 128GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. If you’re willing to shell out more, you can grab the top of the line model which employes again an 8th gen Intel Core-i5 processor but bumps up the RAM and storage to 16GB and 1.5TB (SSD) respectively.
Third gen Butterfly keyboard and industry’s Best Trackpad
The all-new MacBook Air features the third generation of Apple’s awesome butterfly keyboard for responsive and overall better typing experience. Each and every key is individually backlit using low-power LEDs for an even and accurate illumination.
The 2018 MacBook Air also includes the best ever Touch trackpad that features Apple Fore Touch, which delivers pressure-sensing capabilities and haptic feedback. The trackpad is larger than the one featured on the outgoing model and thereby ensures a comfortable and quieter trackpad experience.
Touch ID and Security
The new MacBook Air comes embedded with Apple’s tried and true Touch ID fingerprint scanner powered by the Apple T2 Security chip which helps make the notebook secure. The T2 chip’s secure enclave protects TouchID information and also ensures that the software loaded during the boot process has not been tampered with or altered. The T2 chip also features an SSD controller with on-the-fly data encryption for all of the information stored in the SSD. An always-on processor is integrated within the T2 chip for the user to be able to summon Siri by saying the “Hey Siri” command to help you open apps or find files.
Battery life, OS, ports, and connectivity
Apple claims the all-new MacBook Air for 2018 provides up to 12 hours of battery backup on Wifi web usage and up to 13 hours of iTunes movie playback.
The 2018 MacBook Air features two Thunderbolt 3 ports that allow it to charge the notebook and quickly transfer data via USB and Thunderbolt, connect to external 4K and 5K displays, docks, and e-GPUs for better and faster graphics performance.
The new MacBook Air comes pre-installed with the latest and greatest macOS Mojave out of the box.
A premium and exquisite build quality and design
The new MacBook Air for 2018 features a thin wedge-shaped design which helps it to be compact and lightweight and inturn manageable. The notebook is made of custom Apple-designed 100% recycled aluminum alloy which feels the same, has the same strength and durability as the aluminum used in other Apple products. This custom made aluminum alloy helped reduce the carbon footprint of the MacBook Air by almost 50% which makes it the greenest Mac Apple has ever built.
Availability and color options
The all-new MacBook Air is available for pre-order and will go on sale starting November 7, 2018. The notebook is available in an understated Space Grey color, a nice and sleek Silver finish or gorgeous Gold paint jobs.
