In May 2025, Huawei unveiled HarmonyOS 5 as its flagship operating system across smartphones, tablets, and PCs. It’s a watershed moment in the company’s strategy to assert technological self-reliance amid Western sanctions. Anyway, we’ve got hold of 3 stock wallpapers introduced with HarmonyOS 5. HarmonyOS 5

HarmonyOS began in 2019 as a distributed, microkernel-based OS. It was initially entangled with Android’s AOSP. However, with the introduction of HarmonyOS Next in October 2024, Huawei completed a full rewrite to shed Android dependencies. What makes HarmonyOS 5 important is that it marks the first stable evolution of this pure HarmonyOS codebase.

Huawei began rolling out the HarmonyOS 5.0.1 update to 14 of its high-end devices starting May 19. This new version introduces a range of advanced features, cross-device collaboration, user comfort, and intelligent assistance.

An intelligent AI Eye Comfort mode has been introduced, which automatically detects signs of eye fatigue and adjusts screen brightness accordingly, providing a more user-friendly and health-conscious experience.

Huawei has also expanded the capabilities of its Celia AI Assistant. It now supports multi-device clipboard sharing. Additional improvements include better Bluetooth sharing, enhanced HiCar navigation, and a more versatile web browsing experience.
