The biggest USP of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series phones is not their top-notch hardware but the cool AI features. The Galaxy AI or Advanced Intelligence packs together some cool photo-editing tools. In this tutorial, we’ll see how to move, remove, and resize objects in images using Samsung AI Photo-editing tools on the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra.
The older Photo Editor on the One UI 5 and 6 mostly had basic editing capabilities like cropping, rotating, adding filters, changing color tones, decorating with drawings, stickers and text, and beautifying faces in pictures. The Photo Editor version 3.4.13.49 and above on the Galaxy S24 with One UI 6.1 is fortified with the power of AI. It has a bunch of advanced image editing features that let you manipulate your images in amazing ways.
I have already explained all 16 Galaxy AI features available in One UI 6.1 on the Samsung S24 series. However, in this article, our sole focus will be AI image-editing capabilities.
Editing Photos with Samsung AI Photo-Editing Tools
Samsung has integrated Google’s Generative Edit² and Imagen 2 technology in its Photo Editor app which lets you reimagine photos with AI. Below is a complete list of things you can do with your photos on your Samsung Galaxy S24. As of now, you can select and manipulate only 5 objects in one editing session and the edited photos will have an AI watermark in the bottom left corner and a tag “Modified with Generative edit” in the metadata.
- Change and adjust the angle of photos and fill in the gaps around the edges with AI-generated backgrounds.
- Move or shift the objects or people in a photo.
- Resize the objects and people in photos.
- Remove people and objects from photos and fill the gaps with matching backgrounds.
- Erase unwanted shadows and reflections in photos.
- Copy selected objects and people from photos to the clipboard and add them to other photos.
- Select the objects and people from the photos and turn them into stickers.
- Increase the resolution of low-quality photos.
Let’s check how to use the AI features of the Galaxy S24’s Photo Editor app.
1. Change the Angle of Images with AI
If you have a photo on your phone in which the objects are tilted to a side, you can change their angle or straighten them easily.
- Go to the Samsung Gallery app and open the photo you want to straighten.
- Select the Edit option to open it in the Samsung Photo Editor.
- Tap the Generative Edit icon located in the bottom right corner.
- Now swipe on the angle change slider to change the angle of the photo.
- Tap the Generate button.
- Finally, select Done and save the edited photo to your Gallery.
Here’s the resulting image after changing the angle of the photo.
2. Move Objects or People in a Photo with Galaxy AI
If you do not like the position of an object or person in a photo, you can easily move or shift it using the Generative Edit AI on your Samsung Galaxy S24. Please note that you can select and move up to 5 objects in a single editing session. To manipulate more objects, you can re-edit the photo after saving it.
- Open the photo in Samsung Gallery and select the Edit option.
- Tap the Generative Edit icon to manipulate it with AI.
- Now touch and hold the object you want to move to select it. You can also outline the object with the S-Pen or your finger to make the selection.
- Once the object is selected, you can move it anywhere inside the photo frame.
- Having moved the object or person to your desired place, tap on Generate.
- When the image is generated, tap on Done and save the photo to your Gallery.
Here’s the result after moving an object in Samsung’s AI-powered Photo Editor. In the photo below, I first selected myself, erased the shadow between the legs, and adjusted the angle of the photo.
3. Removing Objects from Photos with AI

4. Resize the Objects and People in Photos
The Generative Edit technology in the Galaxy AI on the Samsung S24 also lets you resize the objects and people in photos. If you want to resize an object in a photo, follow the steps mentioned below.

Enhance the Resolution of Low-quality Images
Most messaging platforms tend to compress image files and reduce their quality and resolution to save bandwidth. If you have such images in your phone’s Gallery, you can easily improve their quality using Samsung Gallery. AI-powered Generative Edit on the Galaxy S24 lets you enhance the picture quality of low-resolution photos. This feature is available while saving edited images when AI detects very low-resolution. Here is how it works.
- Open a down-scaled image with poor quality in the Samsung Gallery app.
- Tap the Edit icon and crop or rotate the image.
- Select the Save option after editing the image.
- You’ll be prompted if you want to increase image resolution.
- Tap on Increase resolution.
Done! The upscaled image will be saved in the gallery. Below is a comparison of the same image before and after using the AI-powered Increase Image Resolution feature in One UI 6.1.
Remaster Photos with AI-powered Edit Suggestions
The AI photo-editing tools on the Samsung Galaxy S24 also let you quickly remaster your photos to enhance them. The Edit Suggestions feature automatically analyzes the photos and provides potential editing suggestions that include:
- Remaster: Enhances brightness, contrast, color effect, clarity, face smoothness, etc.
- Long exposure: This means giving the camera sensor to gather light for a longer time by keeping the shutter open for an extended period. Using this effect will give your photos more exposure to light.
- 24-hour time-lapse: This AI photo editing effect on the Galaxy S24 is available for landscape photos captured in daylight. It creates a 12-second video showing how a specific landscape will look like during different times of the day.

- Open the image in the gallery and swipe up with your finger.
On the image details page, the Edit Suggestions will appear on the image. Tap the suggestion you want to use and AI will apply the selected effect to your photo.
