At WWDC 2025, Apple officially unveiled the next major version of its desktop operating system — macOS 26, also known as macOS Tahoe. Named after the iconic Lake Tahoe in California, this release brings a significant visual overhaul, deeper iPhone integration, powerful AI features, and brand-new tools for both productivity and gaming. Today, we have the macOS Tahoe aka macOS 26 official wallpaper in 4K and 8K resolution.

What’s New in macOS Tahoe

One of the most noticeable changes in macOS 26 is the introduction of the Liquid Glass or Glassmorphism design. This aesthetic refresh brings translucent, glass-like elements across the entire interface, including the Dock, menus, windows, and sidebars. The result is a cleaner, lighter, and more immersive user experience.

In addition to the visual changes, Apple now allows customization of app icons, folders, and widgets. Users can add color tints, adjust transparency, and even personalize folders with emojis or symbols for a more tailored desktop experience.

Spotlight gets one of its biggest upgrades yet in macOS Tahoe. It’s now faster, more relevant, and interactive:

  • Actionable Results: You can now send messages, create reminders, launch apps, or run Shortcuts directly from Spotlight.
  • Refined Search Filters: Results can be filtered by file type, date, or relevance, making it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts for Power Users: Quick commands like “ar” for adding reminders or “sm” for sending messages make workflows faster.

macOS 26 introduces the dedicated Phone app for Mac. Now, you can make and receive phone calls directly from your Mac. It allows you to access complete call history, contacts, voicemail, call screening, and even Hold Assist.

Even better, Live Activities from iPhone apps can now appear in your Mac’s menu bar. macOS Tahoe integrates seamlessly with Apple Intelligence, Apple’s suite of generative AI tools.  It also introduces the new Games app on Mac, designed to make game discovery and management easier.
