What is the similarity between a refrigerator and Facebook? We know there is nothing new there but still, we keep opening it again and again. If you do so then, my friend, you are addicted to Facebook (and probably to your refrigerator too which is kind of weird).

Facebook is one of the most visited websites in the world and it has a good reason for it – it connects you with your loved ones (including the 765 unknown persons that you have never met in person). Facebook now consumes a huge percentage of our daily life – getting bored? Open Facebook, waiting in a line? Open Facebook. Believe it or not, Facebook addiction is a real problem in today’s world, especially among teenagers.

If you are a Facebook addict then this article is directed towards you. Read on to find 3 simple and awesome techniques that may help you beat your Facebook addiction.

Disclaimer: Before we begin you must know that dealing with your Facebook addiction is in your own hands. I can just tell you how to do it but performing these activities solely depend on your willpower.

1. Stay Busy

busy

You already know how to do this but still, you don’t do it. Go out and play, clean your house, read a book, play video games, study, do whatever keeps you busy and makes you productive too. Stay busy and be productive. Stop wasting time on Facebook.

2. Unlike Unnecessary Pages

unlike

There is no reason to like the page of that hotel you went to 4 years ago. There is no reason to be part of a group that shares content that does not matter to you. Liking unnecessary pages and joining lots of groups will only increase the amount of content in your newsfeed. The less content you have in your newsfeed the less you’ll open Facebook again and again and again.

There is no reason to take part in the crazy race of having more virtual friends than you have in real life, I mean why you would even keep an unknown person on your friend list and share your private stuff with them; that unknown person could be planning to use your private information for an unfair purpose. Now, I am not trying to scare you but stuff like this happens a lot.

3. Block Facebook on Your Computer

Using a browser extension that will not allow you to use Facebook is a good and useful idea. My favorite extension is StayFocusd.

StayFocusd is a productivity extension for Google Chrome that restricts the amount of time you can spend on time-wasting websites. All you have to do is enter the time limit up to which you would like to use a website (Facebook, for example). Once the time allotted is used up, the website will be blocked for the rest of the day.

Additional tip – stop playing games on Facebook or using the apps that tell you which friend of yours wants to kill you.
