7 Ways to Launch Command Prompt in Windows

Command prompt is a command line interpreter application used to execute entered commands in Windows operating systems. It allows you to do many administrative tasks with much ease. Most of those commands are used to automate tasks via scripts and batch files, perform advanced administrative tasks, troubleshoot and solve various kinds of Windows issues.

To use Command Prompt, you must enter a valid command along with the optional parameters. Command Prompt executes the command as entered and performs various tasks it’s designed to perform in Windows. A large number of commands exist in Command Prompt but their availability differs for various versions of Windows operating system. 7 Ways to Launch Command Prompt

1. Using Start Menu

Open the Start menu and click on All apps option. In All apps, scroll down until you find Windows System folder. Expand the Windows System folder, then click on Command Prompt.Using_Start_Menu

2. Using Search

You can easily launch the command prompt using the search box. To open the search box, press Windows+S keyboard shortcut keys and type cmd. You can also use hey Cortana option to launch a command prompt. All you need to do is to say “Launch Command Prompt”.

3. Using Task Manager

Command prompt can be launched easily from the task manager. To open task manager, right-click on the taskbar and select Task manager option. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+Esc keyboard shortcut keys to open the task manager windows. Now click on the File menu and select Run new task. Create new task dialog box will open instantly. 4. Using Windows+X Power Menu

To launch command prompt using power menu, press Windows+X shortcut key and select Command prompt option to launch it, You can click on the Command prompt(Admin) to open the cmd window with administrator privileges. power-menu

5. Using Run

To launch command prompt using Run window, press Windows+R keyboard keys and type cmd. Click on the ok button to launch the command prompt. You can also open the run windows by typing “Run” in the Start menu. run-cmd

6. Using File Explorer

Open the file explorer by pressing the Windows + E shortcut key or by clicking on the folder icon in the bottom left of the desktop screen. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and right-click on cmd.exe. Select Run as Administrator option to open a command prompt with admin access.system32

7. Using File Menu

Open the file explorer by pressing the Windows + E shortcut key or by clicking on the folder icon in the bottom left of the desktop screen. Open any drive or folder in the file explorer and then click on the File menu in the top left corner of the file explorer window. Select “Open command prompt”. It has two options: Click on open command prompt to launch the command prompt within the current windows or click on open command prompt as administrator to open the cmd windows with administrator access.
